How to get to Nusa Penida

Fly to Ngurah Rai International Airport, located less than three hours from Singapore. Once you arrive at Bali airport, you can hire a private driver or take a taxi to Sanur port. Then, take a speedboat from Sanur Beach with any of the major operators such as Maruti Express, Crown Fast Cruises and Mola-Mola Express. A boat ride costs on average about IDR 700,000 (return tickets for 2 adults) and will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Best things to do in Nusa Penida

1. Keling King Beach

One of the main sights of Nusa Penida is this “T-Rex” cliff at Kelingking Beach which looks like a dinosaur. Marvel at the beauty of the limestone rock formations from above and be sure to take as many pictures as you like! 😍 If you’re up for an adventure, head to the beach where you’ll be rewarded with unspoilt white sand and fewer people. It is recommended to visit from 7am to 9am, before the day trippers arrive at 9am.

2. Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach

From Kelingking Beach, head to Angel’s Billabong, a spectacular rock formation known for its natural infinity pool. The path to Angel’s Billabong is a little rough, but the views are worth it. Another place to visit in Nusa Penida is Broken Beach, which is connected to Angel’s Billabong. This breathtaking cove was once a huge cave, but the roof has collapsed and now you get this incredible natural wonder. Unfortunately, you can’t jump into the creek for a swim, but hiking around it will still be a great experience. If you’re lucky, you might even spot manta rays from the cliff 🤩

3. Crystal Berry

Crystal Bay is a beautiful, sheltered cove with clear turquoise waters and home to one of the best snorkeling spots on Nusa Penida. Along with the colorful reef, there is plenty of marine life like manta rays and the rare Mola Mola fish in the bay 😍

Mola Mola fish are usually only found in deep waters, but if you are lucky you may spot them in Crystal Bay between July and September.

However, as it is the most popular beach on the island, it gets crowded. Here’s an insider’s tip: Take the stairway on the far left of the beach, which will take you on a hike to a hidden bay. It’s a tough descent, so come prepared with a good pair of hiking boots 😉

PS Crystal Bay faces west, so it’s a great spot for sunset views of Nusa Penida!

4. Thousand Islands Viewpoint

A One of the most spectacular views on the island is found at the Thousand Islands viewpoint, which overlooks the famous towering limestone karsts of Nusa Penida. If you prefer to be on the beach instead of just looking at it, take the stairs down to a pristine white sand beach, perfect for swimming 😍

The Instagram famous Rumah Pohon (treehouse) can also be found here, and is a great place to watch the sunset! It costs between $18 and $80 per night depending on the dates you have booked through Booking.com, but is usually booked months in advance, so be sure to plan your stay.

5. Giri Putri Cave Temple

One of the largest caves in Nusa Penida, Goa Giri Putri is an important spiritual place and one of Bali’s top cultural attractions. The sacred cave is located in the village of Suana in the northeast of the island. It looks narrow at the entrance (you’ll have to squeeze in and out!), but once inside you’ll find a spacious temple courtyard 🥰 Note that you’ll need to wear a sarong and belt to enter.
