Singapore has always given travelers multiple reasons to visit, gleaming skyscrapers, lush landscapes, Instagrammable parks and boulevards filled with air-conditioned malls – the country has no shortage of attractions and experiences. In its effort to reinvent the tourist experience and give visitors something new to look forward to, the destination is now home to Avatar: The Experience at Gardens by the Bay, and Bird Paradise at the Mandai Wildlife Reserve which will open in 2023.

Inspired by one of the world’s highest-grossing films of all time, Avatar, Avatar: The Experience is an immersive showcase. Located in the Cloud Forest, Gardens by the Bay, the experience opened to the public on October 28, 2022. Here visitors can interact with mystical creatures and flora and experience the captivating culture of Pandora through its bioluminescent environments. RIYADH: The United States and Israel are considering holding joint military exercises to simulate an attack on Iran and its proxies in the Middle East, US media reported Tuesday.

Israeli Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley weigh holding an Air Force exercise to train soldiers for a possible conflict with Iran and its allied proxies, Fox News Digital reportedsaying it could happen in the coming weeks.

During the discussion with Milley, Kochavi said, “It was agreed that we are at a critical juncture that requires the acceleration of operational plans and cooperation against Iran and its terrorist proxies in the region.”

He said that the Israel Defense Forces promotes all operational plans against the Iranian threat. “Iran is under a lot of economic, military and internal pressures, and on the other hand, it continues to promote its nuclear program.”

At the Pentagon, the two military leaders discussed “regional security issues, opportunities for greater bilateral cooperation and coordination to defend against a wide range of threats posed by Iran in the region and other elements of ‘mutual strategic interest’, according to a reading of the report. Meet. “The United States and Israel enjoy a strong military-to-military relationship as key partners committed to peace and security in the Middle East region. »

On Tuesday, Iranian media reported that enrichment of uranium to 60% purity had begun at the Fordow underground nuclear site.

Iran already enriches uranium to 60% purity elsewhere, well below the roughly 90% needed for weapons-grade materials, but above the 20% it produced before the 2015 deal with the major powers to cap enrichment at 3.67%.

The United States, under the Donald Trump administration, withdrew from the agreement which sought to limit development that could lead to Iranian nuclear weapons in exchange for an easing of sanctions. Trump argued that the sanctions relief had enabled Iran to increase its aggression in the Middle East, a position supported by US allies in the region.

The pact allows Iran to use only first-generation IR-1 centrifuges, but when the deal collapsed in 2018 Tehran installed more efficient advanced centrifuge cascades, such as the IR-2m , IR-4 and IR-6.

Meanwhile, US Navy investigators investigating an attack last week on a tanker linked to an Israeli billionaire have concluded that an Iranian drone was used in the bombing.

The drone attack on the Liberian-flagged oil tanker Pacific Zircon last Tuesday off the coast of Oman appears to be part of the long shadow war between Israel and its nemesis Iran, which has included targeting ships linked to Israel in the strategic Middle East. watercourse.

It felt so good to be back in Zurich, Switzerland, one of Europe’s most scenic and sizzling city destinations. Freed from the long shadow of Covid, I had traveled to the Swiss financial capital, to begin a week of frolics across Switzerland and northern Italy with Globus and their new accompanied tour product “Alps out Loud “. Choice Touring by Globus is a recent innovation that offers travelers an exciting new style of travel, promising all the wonders of a perfectly planned tour but with an added level of freedom and flexibility.

Complementing the standard guided sightseeing experiences of the banner attractions, there is the added bonus of YourChoice Excursions, through which you can organize your tour itinerary with Globus, choosing from a range of optional excursions that are more suited to your own interests and passions. Not only does this add a more varied personalized dimension to guided group tours, but the excursions I wanted to take felt more like personalized and intimate small group encounters. It was really fabulous. The biggest challenge was deciding which excursions worked best for me – kind of like trying to choose my favorite flavor of ice cream.

Should I opt for a chocolate, wine or Swiss cheese tour? What about the fashion houses of Milan or the legendary villas of Como? Yes, the wealth of excursion options made some difficult calls on my week-long Globus trip from Zurich to Como. Kicking off in Zurich, it was a no-decision start, as our friendly tour director, Mike Coulstock, took us on an illuminating 90-minute walk through the cobblestones of this centuries-old city, before giving us plenty of time free to shop, eat and self-explore. And there is so much to explore. On a gloomy autumn morning, I was sizing up the largest clock face in Europe, on the banks of the Limmat river. It’s bigger than Big Ben.

Towering above the skyline, the historic tower of St. Peter’s Church is steeped in faithful timekeeping, as are the punctual church bells that ring loudly through the Old Town from the four historic churches, including the mighty Grossmunster Cathedral. No wonder everything runs on time in Switzerland. According to legend, Zurich’s iconic 13th-century cathedral was founded by Charlemagne, built over the tombs of the city’s patron saints, Felix and Regula. It was also the starting point of the Protestant Reformation in Zurich. Culture is everywhere in Zurich and in the old town, the narrow, cobbled streets gave birth to the Dada art movement just over a century ago. I popped into Cabaret Voltaire, at Spiegelgasse 1, which was the birthplace of Dada and the avant-garde art movement in 1916. Absinthe is the drink of choice here, among the ghosts of Dada.

As you stroll along Bahnhofstrasse, flanked by chic designer boutiques and chic department stores, Café Sprungli is worth a pit stop. This popular Zurich institution is rightly hailed for its heavenly macaroons. I don’t mind if I do. Further down the street, if you’re feeling a little decadent, head to Teuscher for its famous champagne truffles. In a city of water and stone bridges, another vantage point, above the winding alleyways of the old town, is the Lindenhof. It was the site of an ancient Roman customs house and a 4th-century fort, perched above the water. As well as enjoying the view of the city, this elevated park with its lime trees and giant chess sets is the perfect spot for a cheeky picnic.

The vast assortment of guild halls are central to Zurich’s history, and they’re great fun to explore. In 1336, the first independent mayor of Zurich, Rudolf Brun, established the guild laws, thus transferring the power of the abbeys to the merchant nobility. The beautiful guild halls, with all their intricate and ornate decorative elements, lend themselves to quiet inspection. I started at the Bakers’ Guild in Oberdorfstrasse, before crossing the east bank of the river to Niederdorf, to admire the guilds of carpenters, builders, food and wine merchants, textile merchants and spices, all along Limmatquai. Then, on Munsterhof, you have the homes of weavers, saddlers, painters and winemakers.

In the German-speaking region of Zurich, the street food tradition, wurst, remains very popular, especially for lunch. In the old town, taste delicious sausages at the Wursteria in Hinz and Kunz. This half-deli butcher serves super spicy bratwurst in a soft bun. So good! As its name suggests, Cafe Conditorei 1842 on Napfgasse is an old-fashioned establishment of sweet treats. On four floors, foodies can enjoy pastries, cakes and hot chocolate – they claim to be the best in Zurich. On the ground floor of this historic confectionery, impressively decorated in a neo-baroque style, you will be hard pressed to find a finer range of pastries, cakes and pies. I could have stayed there all day. And yes – the steaming cup of hot chocolate with whipped cream was gorgeous.

Speaking of chocolate, the Lindt and Sprüngli factory has called Zurich home since 1899. Seven years in the making, Lindt Home of Chocolate was designed to complement the historic building and serve as a beacon for chocolate lovers around the world. From culture to production, the interactive museum does a great job telling the story of Swiss chocolate making, not just from Lindt, but from its predecessors. While the labyrinth of white, milk and dark chocolates is impressive, the chocolate house Lindt also has another record: the largest chocolate fountain in the world. Standing about 30 feet tall, even Willy Wonka would be in awe of this sight.

Zurich certainly emerged as a tale of two cities. Making a splash, Zurich-West, which has undergone a spectacular metamorphosis. This once dilapidated industrial district has become a bustling cultural district of trendy restaurants and cutting-edge art, where factories have been transformed into theaters and shipyards reinvented into art galleries. Viadukt is an exemplary example of the makeover, with a host of restaurants, pop-up shops and art spaces housed inside the arches of the 550-foot-long disused railway viaduct. Here you’ll also find the Prime Tower, a 35-storey skyscraper (the tallest in Switzerland), offering panoramic views of the Zurich skyline, the sparkling lake and the snow-capped peaks beyond. Admire the awe-inspiring scenery over a drink or two at Clouds Bar – and welcome back to Europe.

While in Zurich, my Globus tour also included a short detour to the 150 meter wide Rhine Falls, a prodigious cascading body of water that is the largest waterfall in Europe. If you’ve been to Niagara, Iguazu or Victoria Falls, the Rhine aqueducts might seem like a trickle to you compared to those gigantic fire hydrants – but they still put on a wonderful sight. Located about 45 minutes from Zurich in Schaffhausen, the Rhine Falls are around 15,000 years old, shaped by the tectonic changes of the last Ice Age. An array of architectural confections and daring vantage points have been built around the falls, including castles. They all compete for the best views over the crashing falls, crashing into the limestone terraces.

Schloss Laufen overlooks the roaring waters, dating back to 858 AD. Adorning this time-worn castle, a panoramic glass elevator has been installed to pull you up for the supreme view. Another observation deck is located in the heart of the mighty stream. Right in the middle of the falls, a mighty rock fang, Mittelfelsen, has been outfitted with a spectacular viewing platform, accessible by taking a quick boat trip down the river, before climbing 100 steps to the perch of ‘observation. Enter among them!

Experience Choice Touring by Globus for yourself. 2023 departures for the 8-day The Alps Aloud: Switzerland and Lake Como by Design tour are priced at $3,899 per person. This includes tours by private air-conditioned coach, exceptional excursions, select meals, 7 nights first class hotel accommodation, hotel taxes, porterage, gratuities and service charges. www.globustours.co.nz

LIFE in Labis is slower and somewhat laid back.

It is part of Segamat district which is located in the northern part of Johor.

The name of this picturesque township comes from the Bahasa Melayu term labi-labi which means a type of freshwater turtle.

Legend has it that in the days before Malaysia’s independence, a British official who came to the township, then known as Kampung Paya Merah, was surprised to see many sea turtles there. pure water.

Curious, he asked a local about the animals, to which the villager replied “labi-labi, tuan”.

Hearing it for the first time, the official decided to rename the place Labis by adding an “s” at the end of the word to make it plural.

Located just a 30-minute drive from the town of Segamat, Labis is dotted with rows of old shops selling traditional handmade cookies and local delicacies in addition to vehicle workshops.

Labis is said to derive its name from the word labi-labi which means Labis is said to derive its name from the word labi-labi which means “freshwater turtle”.

The small town south of Labis called Chaah is also a popular breakfast spot for travelers and locals.

Lim Siew Chei, who works at a flower shop in Kampung Baru Labis, believes the region can prosper if its tourist attractions are developed.

“With today’s hectic lifestyle, many people are looking forward to a slower life and I think Labis offers them just that.

“We have many small businesses and restaurants that cater to the crowd.

“There is also a scenic hill called Bukit Tahan Rimau in my village which is popular with locals for recreation and recreation.

“I think more can be done; relevant government agencies should put up appropriate signage and turn the hill into a real recreational and tourist destination.

“It can benefit locals and boost the economy,” she said when interviewed by StarMetro.

Lim says Labis can thrive if more attention is given to its tourist attractions.Lim says Labis can thrive if more attention is given to its tourist attractions.

Lim said there are other parts of Labis that could be used to attract tourists, introducing fun tours and tour packages.

The 21-year-old added that locals had many ideas to make Labis a more interesting place, so they hoped the next MP would reach out to the electorate and help develop the area.

Labis, like many second- and third-tier cities, faces a similar situation where its young people choose to work in bigger cities in search of better opportunities, said restaurant owner KM Rajuna.

The 43-year-old said Labis was not an industrial area, so the lack of factories and related businesses meant there were not many job opportunities.

“It’s a shame as our local workforce is heading to Kuala Lumpur, Johor Baru and also Singapore to earn a living.

“Before, there was a factory in Labis, but it moved to Segamat and people here had to take the bus to get to work.

“However, many were left jobless during the Covid-19 pandemic when the factory closed,” she added.

Rajuna described the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15) as a good opportunity for voters to choose an MP to look after the welfare of the people, especially low income groups.

“We want an MP who does not select who he or she helps. During the lockdowns, when we were all suffering, not all of us received help,” she said.

Meanwhile, operations supervisor Ahmad Asri Ripin, 34, hopes the Gemas-Johor Baru section of the double-track electric train service (ETS), which runs through Labis, will soon be completed as it will help boost the economy local.

“I think the train service will attract more people to Labis and help the town to thrive and prosper,” he said.

He said, however, that the civic awareness of residents needs to improve in order to embrace development, as litter was still a widespread problem in the city.

“I often see people throwing empty plastic cups out of their car and there are others throwing used tissue paper or food wrappers on the floor.

“I want to see tougher fines and enforcement action taken by local councils to stem this problem, so people are trained to change their behaviour.

Ahmad Asri hopes there will be more emphasis on educating people about civic-mindedness about cleanliness and littering.Ahmad Asri hopes there will be more emphasis on educating people about civic-mindedness about cleanliness and littering.

“I hope the next MP from Labis can look into this and come up with better policies for something as basic as cleanliness because it can improve the image of our country,” Ahmad Asri added.

Although it appears to be a quiet place, Labis – which is predominantly Chinese – plays an important role in Johor’s agricultural landscape as it has a significant number of rubber and oil palm plantations as well as durian orchards.

Labis also has a number of Felda colonies, including Felda Tenang, Felda Chemplak, and Felda Maokil.

A total of 49,915 registered voters are expected to vote in the race for the Labis parliamentary seat on November 19.

Labis constituency has two state seats – Tenang and Bekok.

In the 14th general election, incumbent MP Pang Hok Liong of DAP won the seat with 16,709 votes against Labis MCA division leader Datuk Chua Tee Yong (13,301) and Datuk Sarchu Sawal of PAS (2,020).

The battle resumes between Pang and Chua as Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional respectively named them as their representatives for the Labis siege.

Perikatan Nasional will be represented by Bersatu associate member Alvin Chang Teck Kiam.

There are 26 parliamentary seats in contention in Johor this GE15. The state seats are uncontested as the state election ended on March 12.

And what better attraction to start this Day of the Dead than The Walking Dead at Universal Studios Hollywood? (Each link leads to our review of that attraction, usually posted the day it opens.)

Then the roller coaster disappeared to make way for Wonder Woman: Flight of Courage – Green Lantern First Flight at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Let’s remember one of Disney’s old afternoon parades – Mickey’s Soundsational Parade at Disneyland.

A submarine-themed aerial tramway could never be long for this world. Pour one for Submarine Quest at SeaWorld San Diego.

Speaking of boat rides that were actually boat rides, here’s one of Universal’s – Madagascar: A Crate Adventure at Universal Studios Singapore.

Now, how about what was perhaps the least viewed version of one of Disney’s most popular nighttime shows? Wicked color world! at Disney California Adventure

Finally, a list of missing theme park attractions can only end in disaster. Literally. It’s Disaster! at Universal Studios Florida

The disaster wasn’t perfect, but he had a great sense of humor. (As did, Graveyard Revue). I really miss it now that the space is taken up by F&F Supercharged. **shudder**

November 1, 2022 at 8:14 a.m.

It’s a shame that the classic “Ride the Movies” attractions were lost. Disaster was a spectacular fun effect, but IMHO was inferior to Twister (and Backdraft to USH). I don’t hate F&F as much as the others, and I actually think it’s an improvement over slow loading, no one has a good seat, 1 trick pony which was a disaster. The renovation that added Christopher Walken (along with smart new technology that is now widely used in Universal attractions) was pure genius in extending the life of the attraction for a few more years.

I’ve always thought it was cool for a theme park to have a full-time haunted attraction, and USH seemed like the perfect park to maintain one given the plethora of acting talent and designers at horror effects in the area. Personally, I’m not a Walking Dead fan (I preferred the old House of Horrors), but the attraction offered something very different from the rest of the park.

Sea World’s Submarine Quest was a completely ridiculous concept born out of budget cuts and a complete lack of creativity. It wasn’t even a submarine ride (like Finding Nemo Subs or Deep Sea Adventure at nearby Legoland), and played guests for fools. It was a kiddie ride marketed to adults, and it was a sign of things to come from a company more interested in marketing something new than something good. Sea World’s Rocket Rods that couldn’t even get out of their own way.

November 1, 2022 at 10:07 a.m.

The permanent Walking Dead attraction was a great compromise for the long, long, long series of mazes at Horror Nights in Hollywood, and eventually on both coasts. The permanent sets and enclosed location made for an enhanced, even refreshing experience.

I still hear Soundsational when I close my eyes sometimes. Beautiful parade! Good parade, even! But I’m haunted by it.

November 1, 2022 at 10:16 am

Jeffrey H, add me to the list of disaster fans. christopher walken was so good and the final movie with audience participants was hilarious. loved it! like kong, F&F is suitable for ages 9-13.

November 1, 2022 at 2:42 PM

I love the mummy at USF, but I have fond memories of Kongfrontation! before that. As for Disaster, I seem to have completely missed this iteration. I remember Earthquake the Ride. Was it basically a reskin or were new elements other than the pre-show added?

November 1, 2022 at 4:08 PM

Christopher Walken and the Rock really added charm to Disaster. The ride itself was identical (with a fun video added at the end of the action) to Earthquake which was an opening day attraction, but the pre-show was much livelier. Jaws, Twister, Terminator 2:3-D, Kongfrontation… you might have an entire section devoted to USF, mainly because of…

Back to the future. I miss this trip very much. I credit him with starting my love of theme parks.

Dedication to ET at USH, Twilight Zone and Aladdin’s show at DCA, and Wild Arctic (“A herd of caribou!”) at Sea World as well.

November 1, 2022 at 5:10 PM

Marvel Mania Restaurant – USH (So ahead of its time, would be a huge hit now)

Aladdin – DCA

House of Horrors – USH

StarCade – Disneyland

November 1, 2022 at 7:27 PM

I miss the Peoplemover at Disneyland. The ride was more scenic and less flat than its counterpart in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, and it lost its theme park life to make way for this “so bad it’s mediocre” classic (even as a fan Disney stalwart, can’t bring myself to say it was good) forwarded the Rocket Rods attraction.

November 2, 2022 at 01:16

Aside from so many classic attractions from EPCOT and the like, kudos to the old animation studios building, it was so much fun.

A few of Six Flags Great America in Great Wolf and ShockWave.

Scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2023, the 17-hectare (290-acre) bird paradise will be the first of new wildlife parks located in Mandai Wildlife Reserve to open to the public. Managed by Mandai Wildlife Group, Singapore’s new bird park, Bird Paradise, will transport visitors to a colorful world that will be home to 3,500 birds from over 400 avian species. Designed to encourage discovery at every turn, Bird Paradise will welcome visitors to immersive and naturalistic mixed-species habitats, where they will explore eight large aviaries that reflect different biomes of the world such as dense African rainforests, southern wetlands, American, Southeast Asian Rice Paddies, Australian Dry Eucalyptus Forests and more.

Mike Barclay, CEO of Mandai Wildlife Group, said: “When the Mandai rejuvenation project was considered, we wanted Bird Paradise to exemplify our commitment to operating open and immersive wildlife parks that put animal welfare at the centre. of what we do. We have designed Bird Paradise to offer customers a range of carefully themed and choreographed aviaries, which will bring visitors even closer to some of the world’s most amazing bird species. Support facilities are also of the highest standard, including a state-of-the-art avian hospital and extensive breeding facility. As an organization dedicated to the protection of wildlife, I am confident that Bird Paradise will provide us with the perfect platform to continue our education programs, our capacity building initiatives and our important work to protect wildlife species. endangered birds in the region.

A fascinating exploration through immersive habitats

A key highlight is the Heart of Africa where visitors will find themselves in the forested valleys of mainland Africa. With a high canopy experience, visitors will be led through dense, misty forest with meandering forest streams, where they can observe birds displaying their natural behaviors. A recreation of the peaceful bamboo forests and sloping rice terraces of Southeast Asia can be found at Wings of Asia. The landscaping serves more than just an aesthetic function, with the bamboo maze providing a major food source for the animals living in the habitat. The terraces also create a unique ecosystem for birds like the critically endangered Baer’s Pochard and the endangered milk stork.

At Penguin Cove, an indoor habitat will eventually house penguins such as Gentoo Penguin, King Penguin, Humboldt Penguin and Northern Rockhopper Penguin. It will offer guests a fascinating look at the ocean life of these birds.

Guided by the knowledge and experience gained from operating the 51-year-old Jurong Bird Parkthe new Bird Paradise will continue to preserve the heritage and legacy of the existing bird park and pay homage to Singapore’s pioneering wildlife park by retaining iconic elements such as the heliconia collection.

Integrate conservation education into visitor experiences

Some of the park’s most endangered species will be housed in the Winged Sanctuary, an area specially dedicated to birds of high conservation value, including critically endangered species such as the Philippine eagle, Vietnamese pheasant and Negros pigeon with a bleeding heart.

Throughout the park, educational programs and features such as touch and digital interactions, bird interactions and feeding sessions will allow visitors to engage in hands-on, interactive bird encounters. Beyond play, these elements also educate visitors and evoke deeper thinking about the real threats faced by animals in the wild, many of which face extinction unless steps are taken to conserve their animals. habitats.

Each area of the park is designed to trigger the call to action for visitors to do their part for conservation. Transition zones between habitats double as educational spaces where visitors can learn about avian characteristics and behaviors. Fun and interactive elements will deepen visitors’ appreciation of the avian world, along with sensory explorations like human-sized nests and opportunities to recreate the dawn choruses of Southeast Asian songbirds.

Visitors can embark on meaningful guided behind-the-scenes tours of Bird Paradise’s fully equipped Avian Health and Research Center, Avian Nutrition Center as well as a Breeding and Research Center. Through these visits, they will learn about breeding programs as well as how to establish insurance colonies that protect species in the wild from extinction. They will be exposed to conservation research projects that help maintain and protect populations of species in the wild. A 2,000-seat amphitheater is also set to delight with free-flying demonstrations and refreshed presentations.

Visitors can also expect designated family fun areas at Treetop Play and Egg Splash for dry and wet play, respectively. Treetop Play is inspired by the movement of birds in the treetops, while Egg Splash is inspired by the eggs of waterfowl to create a fun and playful waterscape for children.

Jurong Bird Park is currently conducting its final flight, A Flight To Remember. After the last official day of operations of Jurong Bird Park on January 3, 2023, the process of relocating avian residents to Bird Paradise will begin.

With the new Singapore Bird Park opening next year, development work for the rest of the enclosure is also well underway. The remaining features are expected to roll out gradually through 2025.

Most people take a day trip from mainland Bali since it’s about an hour ferry ride, but the island is so big and spread out that it’s impossible to see it all in one day . We’ve created a Muslim-friendly guide for you to dive deeper into the island’s culture and enjoy the sights it has to offer 😍

How to get to Nusa Penida

Fly to Ngurah Rai International Airport, located less than three hours from Singapore. Once you arrive at Bali airport, you can hire a private driver or take a taxi to Sanur port. Then, take a speedboat from Sanur Beach with any of the major operators such as Maruti Express, Crown Fast Cruises and Mola-Mola Express. A boat ride costs on average about IDR 700,000 (return tickets for 2 adults) and will take about 45 minutes to 1 hour.

Best things to do in Nusa Penida

1. Keling King Beach

One of the main sights of Nusa Penida is this “T-Rex” cliff at Kelingking Beach which looks like a dinosaur. Marvel at the beauty of the limestone rock formations from above and be sure to take as many pictures as you like! 😍 If you’re up for an adventure, head to the beach where you’ll be rewarded with unspoilt white sand and fewer people. It is recommended to visit from 7am to 9am, before the day trippers arrive at 9am.

2. Angel’s Billabong and Broken Beach

From Kelingking Beach, head to Angel’s Billabong, a spectacular rock formation known for its natural infinity pool. The path to Angel’s Billabong is a little rough, but the views are worth it. Another place to visit in Nusa Penida is Broken Beach, which is connected to Angel’s Billabong. This breathtaking cove was once a huge cave, but the roof has collapsed and now you get this incredible natural wonder. Unfortunately, you can’t jump into the creek for a swim, but hiking around it will still be a great experience. If you’re lucky, you might even spot manta rays from the cliff 🤩

3. Crystal Berry

Crystal Bay is a beautiful, sheltered cove with clear turquoise waters and home to one of the best snorkeling spots on Nusa Penida. Along with the colorful reef, there is plenty of marine life like manta rays and the rare Mola Mola fish in the bay 😍

Mola Mola fish are usually only found in deep waters, but if you are lucky you may spot them in Crystal Bay between July and September.

However, as it is the most popular beach on the island, it gets crowded. Here’s an insider’s tip: Take the stairway on the far left of the beach, which will take you on a hike to a hidden bay. It’s a tough descent, so come prepared with a good pair of hiking boots 😉

PS Crystal Bay faces west, so it’s a great spot for sunset views of Nusa Penida!

4. Thousand Islands Viewpoint

A One of the most spectacular views on the island is found at the Thousand Islands viewpoint, which overlooks the famous towering limestone karsts of Nusa Penida. If you prefer to be on the beach instead of just looking at it, take the stairs down to a pristine white sand beach, perfect for swimming 😍

The Instagram famous Rumah Pohon (treehouse) can also be found here, and is a great place to watch the sunset! It costs between $18 and $80 per night depending on the dates you have booked through Booking.com, but is usually booked months in advance, so be sure to plan your stay.

5. Giri Putri Cave Temple

One of the largest caves in Nusa Penida, Goa Giri Putri is an important spiritual place and one of Bali’s top cultural attractions. The sacred cave is located in the village of Suana in the northeast of the island. It looks narrow at the entrance (you’ll have to squeeze in and out!), but once inside you’ll find a spacious temple courtyard 🥰 Note that you’ll need to wear a sarong and belt to enter.
