Good news nature lovers, you now have more options to relax and explore when you’re outdoors. There’s a new attraction at Gardens by the Bay, to celebrate the green space’s 10th anniversary. Meet Active Garden, a space for people of all generations to connect with each other through physical, social and learning activities. He is boasting a community garden, two lawns, fitness equipment suitable for people of all ages and the pet-friendly cafe, Mylo’s.
Located along the waterfront promenade facing Marina Bay, Active Garden is a 10-minute walk from the Bayfront MRT Station. There is also a shuttle service that connects Bayfront MRT, Active Garden and Air-Conditioned Verandahs. There is no admission charge for the public to enjoy the facilities, which include multi-generational fitness equipment and outdoor musical instruments. The community garden, meanwhile, is home to more than 50 types of vegetables, herbs, and fruits, such as long beans, star fruit, and rarer edibles like noni and bilimbi. Run by horticulturalists and volunteers, the community garden also offers edible-growing workshops for visitors.
Interested in the community garden? Don’t be shy and be open to learning more about growing your own produce as volunteers will be on hand to tend the garden by preparing the soil, sowing seeds and fertilizing the plants. Besides the Active Garden, you will also find another addition to Gardens by the Bay. Ethereal White Persians is an artificial garden located inside the Cloud Forest Dome. Standing at 2.7m tall, it is a work of renowned American glass artist Dale Chihuly and is donated by the philanthropic organization Tanoto Foundation to commemorate the gardens’ first decade.
The artificial garden features a cluster of white flowers and it stands above a dark pond at the highest level of the refrigerated veranda where you can take a picture or two with it.
